NOVA Sharpshooters at
National Championships
NOVA Sharpshooters comprised
four of the five members of the Virginia State team that recently
traveled to Redmond, Oregon, for the NRA National Junior Air Gun Team
Championships. With a mere 5 points, in a 4,800- point
match, separating them from first place, the Virginia team took the
Bronze medal. NOVA Sharpshooters Emily Houston and Emma
Holman took 1st and 2nd
place individually in a field of 215 shooters. The other NOVA
Sharpshooters, Brad Pravlik and Merrideth Holman, were joined by Bailey
Bierhuizen. All five shooters performed very well, shooting
above their average scores. The rest of the NOVA
Sharpshooters team have also been shooting very well. Maddy
Pike, Ray Barbosa and James Carter were three of only 20 junior
shooters nationwide selected for the NRA Advanced Junior Shooting
Camp. They traveled to Vermont to attend the week-long
intensive training camp. We look forward to even greater
success from these fine young shooters.
On another note, former NOVA
Sharpshooter, Shannon Wilson, has been selected as a member of the US
National team. She will travel to Zagreb, Croatia, to
represent the USA in international competition July 21-August 6, for
the World Championships. This is one of the first steps in
the selection of members of the US Olympic team. We wish
Shannon well.
The NOVA Sharpshooters
continue to practice on Tuesday and Friday nights through the
summer. For more information, please contact head coach, Rich
Stibrik, at rich.stibrik@arlingtonfairfax-iwla.org or Tom
Pike at tom.pike@arlingtonfairfax-iwla.org
