EDUCATION AND TRAINING AT ARLINGTON-FAIRFAX

Virginia Hunter Education

    Taught over two evenings and one full day, this course is the Hunter Education Course that is required of new hunters to receive hunting license.  There is no charge for the Virginia Hunter Education Course   Each course is taught from 7 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday and Friday evenings and from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturdays.  For more information or to preregister for a Hunter Education Course, call Carl Hampton at 703.323.8671

Basic Firearm Safety Courses

    The Chapter web site has been updated to make it easier to find course descriptions , latest schedule, registration information and forms. Just click on the “Education and Training” button and navigate to the information or forms you need.

NRA First Steps - Pistol.  Saturday, May 20.  A basic NRA course designed to provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
Cost: Arlington-Fairfax Chapter members and their families - $30.00.  Non-members - $50.00

NRA Personal Protection in the Home.  Saturday, June 17.  To develop NRA certified Based on the building block approach, the first course in this series is the NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course    Participants must be experienced shooters (able to show mastery of the basic skills of safe gun handling, shooting a group, zeroing the firearm and cleaning the firearm) to maximize what can be learned from the course.  Course goal is to develop the student’s basic knowledge, skills and attitude essential to the safe and efficient use of a handgun for protection of self and family and to provide information on the law-abiding citizen’s right to self-defense.
Cost: Arlington-Fairfax Chapter members and their families - $30.00.  Non-members - $50.00

NRA Range Safety Officer.  Sunday, June 25.  To develop NRA certified Range Safety Officers who possess the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, conducting and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.
Cost: Arlington-Fairfax Chapter members and their families - $70.00.  Non-members - $125.00

NRA First Steps - Shotgun.  Saturday, July 15.  To provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to own and use a specific shotgun model safely.
Cost: Arlington-Fairfax Chapter members and their families - $30.00.  Non-members - $50.00

NRA RTBV/First Steps - Pistol.  Saturday, August 19.  A basic NRA course designed to provide beginning shooters with an introduction to the basic knowledge, skills and attitude necessary for owning and using a pistol safely.
Cost: Arlington-Fairfax Chapter members and their families - $30.00.  Non-members - $50.00
